JSSKA's 2009 EVENTS

Gathering

JSSKA members meeting on a Spring day in April 2009 at Seaside Heights

Paddlers should read the following GUIDELINES before attending any trip posted on the JSSKA website.

Although a diverse list of regional paddling events are posted here, paddling trips on this page are listed for members of Jersey Shore Sea Kayak Association.  Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Posted trips are organized by members who are neither experts nor instructors.  Sea Kayaking can be a dangerous sport.  All participants are strongly advised to take ACA approved instructional courses, and to learn about  safety, self- rescue, hypothermia, waterway navigation and basic USCG rules. Before launching, paddlers should always be aware of current and future weather conditions and should never overestimate their abilities.  On all posted paddling trips, EACH INDIVIDUAL PADDLER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN SAFETY and JSSKA assumes no liability.  Although this does not take the place of formal instruction, please take some time to review the following links which have very useful information and can also be printed:

JSSKA Membership Contest

Now that you’ve almost finished your taxes, here’s something much easier.  JSSKA is having a membership contest starting April 16 and running through June 16.    Our members are always out there talking up the club; it’s time you get rewarded for it.

Any paid member who refers a NEW member will be entered into the contest.  The five members that refer the most new members will win prizes.  We’re still working out the prize details but it will be worthwhile.

Please be sure the new member puts your name somewhere on the application as the referrer.  The Club Secretary will keep track of the referrals as they process the new member applications.

Prizes will be awarded at the Spring Picnic in Somers Point on June 20.  Winners need not be present.  But we hope to see lots of new members there! Smiley

Membership Contest Rules

•Contest will run April 16 through June 16
•All paid members, regardless of date joined are eligible for prizes.
•Members representing the club at events (EMS Club Day, Outdoor Expo) are eligible.
•Current club officers are not eligible to win prizes.
•Renewing members whose membership may have lapsed do not count as “NEW” members toward prizes.
