Driving Directions:

• GSP to exit 82 / 82A (Route 37 East / Seaside Heights).
• Exit ramp onto Route 37 East.
• Follow Route 37 East approx. 6.5 miles crossing Tunney / Mathis Bridge over Barnegat Bay.
• At fork in road after the bridge, bear right towards Seaside Park and Island Beach State Park.
• Follow road (Rt 35 South / Central Ave) toward Island Beach Entrance and turn right onto 22nd Avenue.
• Follow two blocks to bay.

Launching considerations / restrictions:

Plan on dropping off Yaks and then parking two long blocks away on Central Avenue where there are ample spaces.

Parking situation:

Drop off only. 15 minute loading and unloading only. Parking may be available on side streets but very limited. Plan to park on Central Avenue two blocks east.

Comments:

This is a good place to launch from if you want to paddle along Island Beach State Park shoreline without entering the park and paying the fee. It's around 20 miles round trip to the Barnegat Inlet and back. Tices Shoal is about half way. The water is fairly shallow, but aren't many sheltered areas in windy conditions.
