Comments:

You can paddle the canal in each direction for many miles with exception of locks; most notably north at Kingston. This is a nice quiet calm paddle near Princeton University. There are trails along the canal for joggers, bikes, etc.

If you paddle north you can get out of canal and launch into Carnegie Lake where the University has a lot of rowing events or launch into Millstone River which is more desolate.

You can paddle close to deer raccoons and many wildlife creatures in this area also even though there can have a lot of people around at times.
