Driving Directions:

• From South
• I-287 northbound to exit 55.
• At the end of the ramp make a right heading north on Ringwood Avenue. (CR 511).
• Stay on CR511 / Ringwood Avenue (later Greenwood Lake Road) for almost 11 miles through Haskell, Wanaque and all the way around Wanaque Reservoir and past the Monksville Reservoir dam.
• Just past the dam (Stonetown road) there will be an entrance to the launch site on the left. It has no signs, but is the next left. See entrance picture.
• Drive down hill to parking area.

Launching considerations / restrictions:

There are two alternate launch sites listed in comments section. The ramps tend to get busy in summer.

Parking situation:

Plenty of parking in dirt / stone lot.

Comments:

Great place to paddle for a short run. Close to Wawayanda Lake if you would like to get to two sites in one day. This reservoir is relatively new. In fact if you review the topology maps, the lake does not show yet on those maps. The lake fills the 400' contour and below. A major portion of the small town of Monksville, an iron works village in the 1800's, is now under the lake.

Alternate Launch sites:

• Alternate 1
• From launch site at top, continue north on CR 511 approx .4 mile.
• As you are heading down hill just before the causeway across the reservoir there will be a small intersection.
• Turn left for alternate site 1 into the parking lot for the 2nd boat ramp.

• Launch area is concrete ramp. Portapotti. Asphalt parking area.

• Alternate 2 - This launch is near the boat rental area. You will need to carry the boat about 50 yards from the parking area.
• From launch site at top, continue north on CR 511 approx .4 mile.
• As you are heading down hill just before the causeway across the reservoir there will be a small intersection.
• Turn right on Beech road for alternate site 2. Make next left into small parking area.
• GPS Coordinates: L 41^o 08' 33.0" N    Lo 74^o 18' 01.9" W
