Driving Directions:

• From South
• I-287 northbound to exit 55.
• At the end of the ramp make a right heading north on Ringwood Avenue. (CR 511).
• Stay on CR511 / Ringwood Avenue (later Greenwood Lake Road) for approx. 13 miles through Haskell, Wanaque and all the way around Wanaque Reservoir and past Monksville Reservoir.
• Right on Awosting Road North and continue for 1.5 miles.
• Second Left onto unmarked Dirt Road (First dirt Road is marked Private) and continue to Greenwood Lake Dam.
• NOTE: If you see East Shore Road on your right, you've gone too far.

Launching considerations / restrictions:

Car top launch only. It's really a shore fishing access location. There's a gate at end of dirt road; not sure when it's locked. I'd assume area is open sunrise to sunset, but it's not posted, so don't know for sure.

Parking situation:

Limited parking; shared with fisherman. Max. 8 cars maybe. no parking along main road.

Comments:

Greenwood lake is one of the largest lakes in the state. Lots of boat traffic. gets quite choppy in summer; wave refraction off bulkheads can be interesting. Watch out near marinas. Limited places to take out. Nearly entire shoreline is private residences. There's a NJ Green Acres park at southern end. No boat launching permitted from there, so you probably can't take out either; we've never tried. A few miles North of the dam, the town of Warwick has a town beach; excellent area outside of the summer season. There are some lakeside restaurants. Overall it's a nice place to paddle.
