Comments:
Very beautiful lake in the heart of the Brunswicks. Almost makes you forget where you are. If you go straight ahead you'll go for about 1.42 miles and you'll hit a 4' dam. You can portage around this dam on the left side of it then there is a short body of water then another dam. After the second dam, (if you dont mind scratching up the bottom of your yak at low water, best to go after a rainstorm or at high tide) you can take the brook all the way to the Raritan River and come out right next to the beached ferry that you can see as you cross the Turnpike bridge over the Raritan on your way there. If you turn around and go under the bridge, at .95 miles you'll go under a really cool railroad trestle and at 1.42 miles you'll come to another dam. If you portage around this dam, at 2.58 (total) miles you come to the dam for Farrington Lake. Some of the smaller channels after the first dam get very shallow during low water so you may have to drag your yak. When you're done feel free to visit the Rutgers Gardens. Make a right back onto Ryders Lane and your next right turn will be the entrance. They have a really cool bamboo forest and a pine grove unlike anything else.
