This is a public boat ramp located in a condominium complex at the end of Bay Ave in Point Pleasant. Drive through the complex and follow signs for the ramp.
If anyone is a wooden boat aficionado, this is the place to paddle. Head into the Bay Head marinas and the private docks. I have never seen so many classic wooden boats from the 20s & 30s in one place – feels like the Great Gatsby!
This launch is in close proximity to the Point Pleasant Canal. Review picture link below which show relationship of launch site to the canal and familiarize yourself with this location.
Those of you familiar with the canal that links the Manasquan & Metedeconk Rivers: That canal has a nasty rep for having lots of powerboat activity, and thus kayak-hostile.
The Bay Ave launch is just a few feet away from the entrance to the Pt. Pleasant Canal, so paddlers should use caution here. There were some jet skis launching from there also.
The ramp is sand and small yellow river rocks. You have to drive through the condo complex, there is a sign at the entrance pointing to "Public Access". The road dead ends at the ramp.
