Driving Directions:

• Interstate 287 East / I87 South across Tappan Zee Bridge.
• Keep right into tolls and take exit for route 9.
• At light make right on route 9 North for about 1 mile.
• Left on Main Street.
• Follow Main Street to end.
• At the end of Main Street there is a traffic light. You will take the ramp that goes right and up over the railroad bridge.
• At the top of the ramp make a left and then a quick right.
• This is Railroad Avenue that quickly becomes Division Street.
• Follow Division past an oil dealer on the left.
• The launch site is on the left in a small park just past the oil dealer.

Launching considerations / restrictions:

Care should be taken on the River which has a 3 ft tide range, fairly strong currents and can produce good sized waves, especially in a North or South wind. Also there is a lot of commercial ship traffic if you venture out to the channel.

Parking situation:

There is parking for about 10 to 12 cars. The lot is designed to park trailers, so double up to leave room for others.

Comments:

This is a cute little well protected park and launch area for canoes and kayaks only. Its brand new, beautifully landscaped with a concrete launch ramp and a small floating dock. Excellent spot to view the Tappan Zee Bridge which is less than 1 mile south. It's actual location is in Sleepy Hollow, which I believe is part of Tarrytown. There are numerous deli's and restaurants on Main Street.
